Scrum Master / Business Analyst (80-100%)

We are looking for a Scrum Master / Business Analyst with strong coordination, facilitation, and technical experience to expand our IT capacity to support the continued development of Zurich's global business-critical platform providing catastrophe API solutions for catastrophe modeling.

In this combined role, you work closely with the core IT team, business stakeholders, development teams, catastrophe analysts, and external partners. You enable effective Agile delivery while ensuring that business needs are understood, refined, prioritized, and translated into implementable requirements.

You handle Scrum Master responsibilities with hands-on business analysis, IT operations, and support internal stakeholders.

You get to be part of an interesting international team of people with different areas of expertise. With your skills, you help us shape and deliver new functionality for a global platform with a direct impact on catastrophe modeling and underwriting decisions.

This position is planned as an initial one-year assignment.

Your role
Your main responsibilities will involve:

• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Maintain and prioritise the product backlog based on business owner input and technical guidance from the Application Delivery Manager.
• Identify, track and remove delivery impediments, escalating risks and issues and communicating progress and dependencies transparently.
• Coordinate delivery activities with external vendors, development teams and change management, including defect resolution, testing and releases.
• Plan and coordinate user acceptance testing, capture business feedback and support formal sign‑off.
• Liaise with catastrophe analysts to clarify requirements, priorities, dependencies and expected business outcomes.
• Support incident escalations, engage in root‑cause investigations and guide projects connecting to the platform in collaboration with GAM IT and solution architects.
• Maintain key artefacts such as project documentation, decision records, process descriptions and application‑related documentation.
• Plan and coordinate quarterly weekend production deployments to ensure aligned and well‑prepared execution.
• Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and use cases, and prepare release notes and communications using insurance domain knowledge.

Your Skills and Experience

As a Scrum Master / Business Analyst, your skills and experience will ideally include:

• Proven experience as a Scrum Master, Business Analyst, or a comparable combined Agile delivery role.
• Practical experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies, managing delivery impediments, and supporting continuous improvement.
• Strong business analysis capabilities, including requirements elicitation, process analysis, backlog refinement, user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases.
• Experience working with product owners, business stakeholders, technical teams, external vendors, and service providers.
• Good understanding of Agile delivery practices and project methodologies.
• Background in the insurance industry, with an understanding of relevant terminology such as exposure, accumulation, and reinsurance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Compensation for roles at Zurich depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific role, skill set, level of experience, and subject to applicable law. Zurich thus provides a range of compensation aligned to internal job architecture and market benchmarks to ensure fair and consistent pay for comparable roles. The starting base salary range for this position is 2930 Eur.
